RECENT TEST FORM : After the humiliating 3-1 Ashes defeat to England across last summer, Australia has bounced back reasonably well in 2011. Mark Waugh gives his opinions for the Boxing Day Test where Australia have debutant Ed Cowan at the top of the batting with David Warner and Shaun Marsh who only have a handful of Tests between while the Indian batting line-up is packed full of experience. Bill Richmond : What do you think the result of the Boxing Day Test will be? Mark Waugh : I don’t think India will win as I really doubt they can take twenty wickets even against this Australian batting line up that could be a little vulnerable. The weather is obviously always a factor in Melbourne but I think the Australian bowling line up is strong enough to get them home. I think Hilfenhaus looks back to his best and expect him to play ahead of Mitchell Starc. The left handed variation is nice to have but there have been plenty of teams that have had three right armers and done very well and Hilfenhaus is a different type of bowler to Pattinson and Siddle. If the weather looks clear come Boxing Day, I think the $2.25 Australia looks the way to go
HAWTHORN’S momentum for 2012 continues to build with the Hawks breaking the 40,000 member mark before Christmas.
AGILITY will be the focus of GWS sports science manager John Quinn as he looks to bring the team’s old hands up to speed for 2012.
